Telangana Minister Unveils Major Railway Connectivity Plan for Suryapet District

In a significant infrastructure announcement, Telangana's Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, declared on Sunday that detailed plans are actively being developed to establish a new railway line. This crucial transport link will connect Mellacheruvu in Suryapet district directly with the state capital, Hyderabad.

Boosting Industrial Growth and Pilgrim Access

Minister Reddy emphasized the strategic importance of this proposed railway connectivity for the rapidly expanding industrial zone within Suryapet district. He stated that the project is a top priority on his agenda and that he has been personally coordinating with all concerned agencies and authorities to transform this vision into a tangible reality.

The comprehensive plans include the construction of a double railway line stretching from Mellacheruvu to Hyderabad. Furthermore, the proposal encompasses the introduction of dedicated passenger train services. These services are specifically designed to dramatically improve accessibility for local residents and the growing number of pilgrims visiting from various other regions.

Addressing Infrastructure Needs for a Sacred Site

The minister made these remarks while addressing the media after participating in special prayers at the historic Sri Ishta Kameswari Sametha Swayambhu Shambulingeshwara Swamy temple in Mellacheruvu. The event was held on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri.

Reddy highlighted the temple's increasing prominence as a major pilgrimage destination. He pointed out that enhanced infrastructure, including better transport links, is urgently required to accommodate the steadily rising influx of devotees traveling from across the entire state.

Long-Standing Commitment to Regional Development

Reflecting on his deep connection to the area, Minister Reddy underlined his three-decade-long association with Mellacheruvu. During this period, he claimed to have played a pivotal role in transforming the town into a recognized hub of sustained development and progress.

"Bringing Krishna river water for both irrigation and drinking purposes to Mellacheruvu and the surrounding villages remains one of my most personally satisfying and impactful achievements," the minister stated proudly.

He also revealed that he had previously initiated efforts to secure this vital railway connectivity by actively engaging with the central government. According to Reddy, the successful implementation of this rail project will serve a dual purpose: it will significantly strengthen industrial growth in the region while simultaneously easing travel burdens for commuters and pilgrims alike.

Government Support for Temple Development

In related news, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy added that the Congress government, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, has demonstrated its support for the region's cultural and religious infrastructure. The state administration has sanctioned a substantial sum of Rs 1 crore specifically for this year's Maha Shivaratri festivities and for ongoing temple development projects.

This funding is allocated with the clear objective of providing essential facilities and improving amenities for the ever-growing number of pilgrims who visit the historic temple complex throughout the year.
