Chief Minister Stalin Honors Freedom Fighter Immanuel Sekaran with Memorial Inauguration
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated a significant memorial for late freedom fighter Immanuel Sekaran on Saturday. The event took place in Paramakudi, located within Ramanathapuram district. Stalin officially opened the Manimandapam, a structure built to honor Sekaran's contributions to India's independence movement.
Unveiling of Statue and Family Interaction
During the ceremony, Stalin unveiled a life-size statue of Immanuel Sekaran inside the newly constructed Manimandapam. The statue stands as a permanent tribute to the freedom fighter. After the unveiling, Stalin spent time with Sekaran's family members. He posed for photographs with them, showing respect and solidarity.
Background and Construction Details
The construction of the Manimandapam followed a direct request from Sekaran's family. On September 11, 2023, Chief Minister Stalin announced the project. The government allocated three crore rupees for building the memorial in Paramakudi. This initiative aims to honor Immanuel Sekaran, who fought bravely for Indian independence. He also worked tirelessly for the upliftment of downtrodden communities.
Warm Reception and Dignitaries Present
Stalin received a rousing reception from DMK party cadres and local residents as he traveled to the Manimandapam. The event saw the presence of several state ministers and officials. Notable attendees included Ministers K N Nehru, K K S S R Ramachandran, Thangam Thennarasu, R S Rajakannappan, K R Periyakaruppan, M P Saminathan, and N Kayalvizhi Selvaraj. Ramanathapuram district collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon also participated in the inauguration ceremony.
Post-Event Travel Plans
After completing the inauguration event, Chief Minister Stalin departed from Paramakudi. He traveled by road to Madurai. From there, he planned to take a flight to Chennai, continuing his official duties.
