The ongoing divorce proceedings between actor Ravi Mohan and his estranged wife Aarti Ravi have entered a new phase. The latest development centres around a petition seeking interim maintenance for Aarti and the couple's children. Aarti Ravi has approached the Chennai Family Welfare Court, alleging that financial support for the children has not been provided for several months. According to her petition, expenses related to education and other essential requirements have remained unpaid since April 2025.
Rs 40 Lakh Interim Maintenance Sought
As reported by Law Chakra website, in her petition before the Family Welfare Court, Aarti Ravi sought interim financial support for herself and her children. She requested a monthly maintenance amount of Rs 40 lakh until the divorce proceedings conclude. The plea states that the amount is necessary to meet educational expenses, daily living costs and other responsibilities connected to the children's welfare. According to court filings, Aarti argued that the absence of financial support placed the burden of managing these expenses solely on her.
Matter Reaches Madras High Court
The dispute later reached the Madras High Court after Aarti Ravi expressed concerns regarding delays in the hearing of her maintenance application before the Family Welfare Court. Seeking quicker action, she moved the High Court and requested directions to ensure her plea was considered without further delay. After examining the matter, the High Court directed the Family Welfare Court to hear the petition and pass appropriate orders within two weeks. The order effectively set a deadline for the lower court to address the pending maintenance application.
Ravi Mohan's Plea for Extension Rejected
Following the High Court's directive, Ravi Mohan approached the court with a separate request. The actor sought additional time for the Family Welfare Court to complete proceedings related to the maintenance issue. However, the High Court declined to grant the extension he sought. With the petition dismissed, the earlier order remains in effect. The Family Welfare Court is now expected to decide on Aarti Ravi's interim maintenance plea within the timeline fixed by the High Court. As a result, attention now shifts to the Family Welfare Court's upcoming decision.
Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi married in 2009 after being in a relationship for several years. Their marriage lasted nearly 15 years before the couple announced their separation. The divorce proceedings are currently underway before the Family Welfare Court in Chennai. While the legal dispute continues, Ravi Mohan remains active in the film industry. The actor was recently announced as part of 'Benz,' an upcoming project featuring Raghava Lawrence and Nivin Pauly in prominent roles.
