DMK president MK Stalin has launched a fresh attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, questioning the purpose of his recent visit to New Delhi. Stalin accused Vijay of applying double standards, pointing out that similar Delhi visits by the former Chief Minister had previously been criticised by the current CM. The remarks come amid an escalating political battle between the DMK and the ruling TVK government over their respective equations with the BJP and the Centre.
Stalin Questions Vijay's Motives
In a pointed statement, Stalin demanded clarity on why Vijay visited Delhi and what discussions took place. He alleged that Vijay had earlier condemned the previous DMK government's interactions with the BJP-led central government, but now appears to be engaging in similar diplomacy. Stalin said, "If it was wrong for us to meet central leaders, why is it acceptable for you?"
Political Battle Intensifies
The exchange underscores the growing rivalry between the DMK and the TVK. Vijay, who leads the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has been critical of the DMK's past ties with the BJP, while now reportedly seeking cooperation on state issues. Stalin's attack aims to expose what he sees as hypocrisy in Vijay's stance.
The DMK chief also accused the TVK government of failing to secure benefits for Tamil Nadu from the Centre, contrasting it with his own party's record. Political analysts view this as a strategic move by Stalin to consolidate his party's base ahead of future elections.
Neither Vijay nor the TVK has officially responded to Stalin's allegations. However, sources indicate that the CM may address the issue in an upcoming public meeting.
