SNDP Yogam Leader Vellappally Natesan Voices Support for Pinarayi Vijayan's Re-election

Kottayam: In a significant political statement, SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has openly expressed his personal desire for Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to return to power in Kerala. Natesan made these remarks while speaking to the media after casting his vote at the Kanichukulangara Devaswom Vocational Higher Secondary School.

Leadership Aspirations Within Congress Party

Natesan addressed the ongoing speculation about leadership within the Congress party, noting that "three or four people in Congress are waiting to become chief minister." He specifically mentioned prominent leaders like V D Satheesan and Ramesh Chennithala as having such aspirations, describing them as "individual desires."

The SNDP leader maintained a neutral stance on who should lead the Congress, stating "I have no opinion on who should become the chief minister." He used a metaphorical comparison, questioning "whether we should name a child before it is born," suggesting that leadership decisions should follow electoral outcomes rather than precede them.

Unpredictable Election Dynamics and Triangular Contest

Natesan emphasized the unpredictable nature of the current electoral situation, remarking that "given the current situation, it is unpredictable who will come to power." He acknowledged that while the NDA's vote percentage is expected to increase, "it is uncertain if they will be able to open an account" in terms of securing seats.

The veteran leader highlighted that "a stronger triangular contest is happening compared with previous elections," with various political fronts claiming they will win 100 or more seats. Despite the overall uncertainty, Natesan expressed confidence in one particular outcome: "There is no doubt that P P Chitharanjan will achieve a tremendous victory in Alappuzha."

Voting Process and Family Participation

Natesan participated in the democratic process alongside his family members, arriving to vote with his wife Preethi and daughter Vandana. His public appearance and statements came at a crucial moment during the voting process, adding weight to his observations about the election's trajectory.

The SNDP Yogam leader concluded his remarks by adopting a wait-and-see approach, stating "Let's wait and see what the people's verdict is," while reiterating his personal support for Pinarayi Vijayan's continuation in leadership. His comments reflect the complex political calculations and personal preferences shaping Kerala's electoral landscape.
