Wheat Procurement in Sirmaur to Begin on April 8 at Minimum Support Price
The procurement of wheat by government agencies in Sirmaur district is scheduled to commence on April 8, as confirmed by the Agriculture Department. All necessary arrangements have been finalized to ensure seamless operations at the notified procurement centres across the district.
Key Details on Procurement Process and Registration
According to the Deputy Director of Agriculture, wheat will be procured at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 2,585 per quintal through the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs. The designated procurement centres in Sirmaur are located at Paonta Sahib and Dhaula Kuan.
Farmers intending to sell their produce are mandatorily required to register online on the state government's portal before bringing their wheat to the centres. The registration process, which began on March 1, can be completed by farmers themselves or with assistance from nearby Lok Mitra Kendras and Common Service Centres. Officials have emphasized that wheat will not be procured without prior online registration.
Registration Requirements and Quality Standards
During the registration process, farmers must provide the following documents and information:
- Aadhaar card details
- Bank account information
- Land ownership documents such as revenue records and field maps
- A mobile phone number for OTP verification
The Agriculture Department has urged farmers to ensure their produce meets prescribed quality standards. Wheat should be properly cleaned, with moisture content within permissible limits and free from impurities such as soil, stones, and husk.
Advisory for Farmers on Harvesting and Storage
Farmers have been advised to exercise caution during harvesting and threshing processes and to protect the crop from rain and moisture. Proper storage in dry and safe conditions has been emphasized to maintain grain quality and help farmers secure the maximum possible value for their produce.
This initiative aims to support local farmers by providing a guaranteed market at fair prices, contributing to agricultural sustainability in the region.
