Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde Mourns Ajit Pawar's Passing, Vows Comprehensive Plane Crash Probe

In a somber statement from Mumbai on Wednesday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde described the passing of his colleague, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, as profoundly unfortunate and a moment of immense sadness. Shinde emphasized that the state government will conduct a thorough and detailed investigation into the tragic plane crash that claimed Pawar's life.

Commitment to Investigate the Tragic Incident

"Our colleague has lost his life. Therefore, the plane crash will definitely be investigated. We will investigate so that such accidents do not happen again," Shinde asserted, highlighting the administration's resolve to uncover the causes behind the crash and implement preventive measures. This investigation aims to ensure aviation safety and prevent similar tragedies in the future, reflecting the government's commitment to public welfare.

Remembering Ajit Pawar's Leadership and Character

Shinde fondly recalled Pawar's significant contributions to Maharashtra's governance, noting his straightforward approach and firm grip on administrative matters. "Ajit Pawar was leading the state. He was straight forward and had a grip on the administration. He spoke after taking detailed information on issues," Shinde remarked, underscoring Pawar's meticulous and informed decision-making style.

He further elaborated on Pawar's qualities, stating that he often admitted mistakes and possessed a kind-hearted nature. Reflecting on their collaborative work in the cabinet, Shinde shared, "I have worked with him in the cabinet. He was DCM when I was CM. When we launched the ladki bahin scheme and other schemes, he handled the finances very well." This highlights Pawar's expertise in financial management and his pivotal role in implementing key government initiatives.

Pawar's Work Ethic and Collaborative Spirit

Shinde praised Pawar's decisive and clear communication, noting, "Once he decided, he would do things. He didn't let things go. He would say yes or not very clearly. He spoke with clarity." This clarity and determination were instrumental in their teamwork with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, fostering a cohesive administrative environment.

Describing Pawar's dedication, Shinde added, "He used to start work early in the morning even at 6 am, he gave appointments to people and officers." This early-rising habit and accessibility exemplified his commitment to public service and efficient governance. Shinde also mentioned a recent meeting with Pawar at an event in Mumbai when the Chief Justice of India visited, underscoring their ongoing professional and personal interactions.

An Irreparable Loss to Maharashtra

Acknowledging Pawar's extensive experience and seniority, Shinde said, "He was more experienced than me in politics. He was older than me too. So he knew about a lot of issues and he had handled many departments." Pawar's deep understanding of various issues and departmental management made him a valuable asset to the state.

Shinde highlighted Pawar's advocacy for austerity, noting, "He often asked us to maintain austerity." This frugal approach to governance reflected his prudent financial stewardship. Concluding his tribute, Shinde expressed profound personal and collective grief, stating, "So it is not just the loss of the Pawar family it is an irreparable loss to all of Maharashtra. He was like an elder brother and I feel like I have lost an elder brother. I offer humble tributes to him. There is a mountain of sadness." This heartfelt sentiment underscores the widespread impact of Pawar's demise on the political landscape and community of Maharashtra.
