In a significant political development, Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar visited Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his official residence on Monday morning. The meeting occurred against the backdrop of two major controversies: the alleged multi-hundred crore land scam in Pune involving Parth Pawar and the upcoming Mumbai Cricket Association elections.
Key Discussion Points Revealed
The meeting between the two veteran politicians lasted approximately 15 minutes, following which Pawar proceeded to his office at the Y B Chavan Centre near Mantralaya. While official details remain scarce, reliable sources indicate that the leaders discussed multiple topics beyond the immediate cricket association elections.
Regarding the MCA elections, sources revealed that Sharad Pawar subsequently contacted the panel contesting the election, with indications that certain candidates would be asked to withdraw their nominations. Although CM Fadnavis hasn't officially deployed his panel, his support is considered crucial in determining the election outcome.
Pune Land Scam Investigation Intensifies
The meeting gains particular significance given the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged Rs 1,800 crore land scam in Pune. The case involves Amadea Enterprises LLP, where Parth Pawar - the son of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and grandnephew of Sharad Pawar - is a involved party.
Speaking to journalists in Akola, Vidharbha on Saturday, Sharad Pawar emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, stating: "The chief minister has said publicly that the matter is serious. So, he should conduct a probe and put the facts before society."
The controversy centers around 44 acres of Mahar Watan land in Pune, with the market value estimated at over Rs 1,800 crore. The Maharashtra Revenue Department has already suspended sub-registrar Ravindra Taru for alleged irregularities in the registration process. Taru faces accusations of waiving Rs 21 crore in stamp duty on the Rs 300 crore transaction.
Police have registered cases against multiple individuals, including Parth Pawar's associate Digvijay Patil and Sheetal Tejwani, in connection with the alleged scam. The sale deed has since been cancelled, adding another layer to the ongoing investigation.
In a contrasting stance, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar defended his son Parth on Sunday, shifting blame toward the sub-registrar who processed the sale deed. Ajit Pawar expressed confidence that the truth would emerge through the probe ordered by Chief Minister Fadnavis.
The political dynamics are further complicated by the fact that Sharad Pawar and Parth Pawar currently hold opposing political views, despite their family relationship.
