In a sharp political attack, Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief Seeman has questioned the recent stance of actor-politician and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay against the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Seeman highlighted a perceived contradiction in Vijay's political narrative.
Seeman Questions Vijay's Political Consistency
Addressing the media in Trichy on Saturday, Seeman pointed out that Vijay is now labeling the DMK as an "evil force." However, he reminded everyone that Vijay had cast his vote for the DMK in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Seeman referenced Vijay's own statements where he credited former Chief Ministers MGR and Jayalalithaa with exposing the DMK's character long ago.
"Vijay himself says MGR and Jayalalithaa had long ago exposed DMK's political character. But did Vijay not know this in 2021 when he voted for it?" Seeman asked reporters. "Why is he realising it only now?" he questioned, suggesting a lack of political clarity or a strategic shift.
Criticism of TVK's Electoral Strategy
Seeman did not stop at questioning Vijay's criticism of the DMK. He also trained his guns on the electoral strategy of the newly formed TVK. He criticized the party for not contesting in any of the recent byelections, specifically mentioning the Vikravandi and Erode East constituencies.
"After starting a party, he should have entered the field, especially in the birthplace of Periyar," Seeman stated, referring to Erode. He found it ironic that someone who avoided electoral battles was speaking about grassroots-level politics. "It is funny to see someone who stayed away from elections speak about grassroots politics," he remarked.
Allegations on Voter List Tampering and Money Power
Expanding his critique beyond rival parties, Seeman raised serious allegations about the integrity of the electoral process itself. He claimed there was a large-scale deletion of voters' names during special intensive revisions of the electoral rolls.
"Instead of correcting errors, entire voter lists are being erased," he alleged. To substantiate his claim, he cited an example from outside Tamil Nadu, stating that in Bihar alone, 81 lakh voters were removed, many of whom belonged to minority communities.
Seeman concluded with a broader indictment of the current political system, asserting that democratic principles have been supplanted by financial muscle. "As long as constituencies are bought for crores, democracy will remain a farce," he declared, accusing mainstream parties of undermining electoral fairness through money power.
The NTK leader was in Trichy to attend a state-level consultative meeting of his party's youth wing, where these issues were likely discussed in depth.
