Chandigarh witnessed an emotional moment as Saurabh Joshi took charge as the city's new mayor on Thursday. The journey that began when he was just a wide-eyed 10-year-old entering a BJP booth has now culminated in this significant political achievement.
A Legacy of Service and Emotional Beginnings
As he assumed office, Joshi couldn't help but reflect on the challenging path that brought him to this position, with his eyes welling up during the poignant moment. The picture he held during polling day was particularly meaningful—it featured his father, the late Jairam Joshi, former president of Chandigarh BJP.
Describing his father as "a messiah of the poor and downtrodden," Joshi acknowledged the legacy he carries forward as the youngest son of the then Chandigarh party president. In an exclusive conversation, the new mayor shared his comprehensive vision and future plans for the city.
