Ravi Landge Set to Become 27th Mayor of Pimpri-Chinchwad Unopposed

In a significant political development, Ravi Landge of the Bharatiya Janata Party is poised to become the 27th mayor of Pimpri-Chinchwad, with his election expected to be formalized on February 6, 2026. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation administration received only one nomination for the mayoral post on the final day of filing, confirming Landge's unopposed victory.

Nomination Process and Political Landscape

Municipal Secretary Mukesh Kolap confirmed that only Ravi Landge's nomination form was submitted and approved for the mayoral position. The BJP's dominance in the PCMC is evident with 84 corporators out of 128, while the NCP has 37, Shiv Sena has 6, and one independent is supported by the BJP. This overwhelming majority made Landge's election inevitable.

Landge, who has been elected unopposed as a corporator twice before, emphasized the party's commitment to sustainable development for Pimpri-Chinchwad. He stated, "We have decided to keep aside any friction that occurred during the Assembly elections and work together for the civic polls."

Deputy Mayor Elections and Political Presence

For the deputy mayor position, Sharmila Babar of the BJP and Vaishali Kalbhor of the NCP have filed nominations. If Kalbhor does not withdraw, an election will be conducted for this post. The nomination filing ceremony saw the presence of prominent BJP leaders including MLAs Mahesh Landge and Shankar Jagtap, MLC Uma Khapre, and several corporators, highlighting the party's unified support.

Tribute to Late Leaders and Development Vision

Landge paid homage to the late city leader Ankushrao Landge, noting that a family member receiving the mayoral honor is a true tribute. He expressed confidence that constructive work would be done to ensure justice for all sections of Pimpri-Chinchwad. However, due to the untimely demise of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the BJP has decided against any celebrations post-election. Landge urged party workers to refrain from festivities and instead pay respects to the late leader.

Future Governance and Expectations

MLA Shankar Jagtap emphasized that the BJP's resounding victory in the PCMC elections places a responsibility on every corporator to act as a "Responsible Guardian." He expressed confidence that Mayor Landge would guide the city's development through disciplined and organized governance. Landge assured that comprehensive development in health, education, sports, water management, and services would continue, with the PCMC house remaining the ultimate authority for citizen-centric decisions.

The political transition in Pimpri-Chinchwad marks a new chapter, with Landge's leadership expected to focus on united progress and sustainable initiatives for the industrial city's future.
