Ranchi Civic Polls: Counting Center Fortified with Multi-Layered Security Ahead of Results
Preparations have been significantly intensified at the Transport Nagar counting center and strong room complex in Ranchi, as authorities gear up for the announcement of Friday's civic poll results. Elaborate security and surveillance measures have been implemented to ensure a smooth and transparent counting process.
Security Arrangements and Surveillance Measures
Ballot boxes for mayoral and ward seats remain securely sealed inside 28 strong rooms, which are under round-the-clock CCTV monitoring. A three-layered security cover has been established, with regulated entry protocols to prevent unauthorized access. Officials have enforced a three-tier security arrangement on the Ring Road premises, featuring barricading at multiple checkpoints and strict access control.
Cameras have been installed outside every strong room, and a central control room is continuously monitoring live feeds to maintain oversight. Sub-divisional officer (Sadar) Kumar Rajat stated that the counting process is likely to be conducted in three to four phases. "Two wards have been mapped to one strong room, and all arrangements have been streamlined. Around 300 to 400 personnel, including counting staff and security forces, have been deployed to ensure smooth conduct," he explained.
Voter Turnout and Technical Preparations
The counting will determine the fate of candidates in polls that recorded an overall turnout of 63.05% across the state. In the Ranchi Municipal Corporation area, voter participation stood at 43.43%, while the Bundu Nagar Panchayat registered a higher turnout of 74.07%. Addressing earlier concerns regarding surveillance and power disruptions, Rajat added, "The technical glitches that were pointed out have been rectified. All CCTV feeds are functioning properly now, and backup power arrangements are in place."
Personnel and Transparency Measures
More than 150 counting personnel, including district officials and university professors, will be involved in the exercise. A joint briefing was held on Wednesday, chaired by deputy development commissioner Saurav Bhuvaniya, where officials were instructed to ensure that the counting is conducted transparently and peacefully. This comprehensive approach aims to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and deliver accurate results without delays or disputes.
