Rajasthan Government Takes Strong Action on Administrative Cases
In a significant administrative move, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Monday sanctioned stricter punishments in two separate cases involving an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. This decision was made following thorough consultation with the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), ensuring proper procedural adherence.
Comprehensive Clearance of Pending Cases
The state government demonstrated its commitment to administrative accountability by clearing more than fifty pending cases. These cases spanned various categories including prosecution sanctions, approvals under Section 17-A of relevant legislation, and ongoing departmental inquiries against government officials.
Serious Disciplinary Actions Implemented
In twenty-three particularly serious cases falling under CCA Rule-16, disciplinary measures were taken against twenty-seven state officers. The punishment involved the stoppage of two to four pay increments with cumulative effect, significantly impacting their career progression and financial standing.
Specific Cases of Prosecution Sanction
The government granted prosecution sanction against a former Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) along with two officers from the Public Works Department and the Women and Child Development department. These officials faced allegations of providing illegal benefits to private individuals, bypassing established protocols and regulations.
Additional Administrative Actions Taken
- A former secretary of the Krishi Upaj Mandi Samiti was dismissed from service following a court conviction, demonstrating zero tolerance for judicial findings against officials.
- Another government officer was removed from service due to prolonged unauthorized absence, highlighting the administration's stance on maintaining discipline.
Section 17-A Inquiry and Pension Withholding
An inquiry under Section 17-A was formally approved against a former development officer. This officer faced serious allegations including misuse of official position, making irregular payments, and causing substantial financial loss to the government exchequer.
In five separate cases involving retired officers, the government decided to withhold pension benefits. This action serves as a strong deterrent, ensuring that misconduct during service years continues to have consequences even after retirement.
The comprehensive actions taken by the Bhajan Lal Sharma administration signal a renewed focus on administrative integrity and accountability within Rajasthan's governance framework. By addressing both current and retired officers, the government has established clear precedents for ethical conduct in public service.
