Raita Sena Warns of Protest Over Unresolved Farmer Land Issues in Dharwad
Raita Sena Warns Protest Over Dharwad Farmer Land Issues

Veeresh Sobaradmath, the state president of Raita Sena Karnataka, has accused the Dharwad district administration of persistent neglect. He claims that farmers' problems in the district have remained unaddressed for the past two years. Sobaradmath made these allegations during a press conference held on Monday.

Longstanding Grievances Ignored

Sobaradmath stated that formal complaints regarding these issues have already been submitted to the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary of Karnataka. He expressed deep frustration over the lack of action from local authorities.

A Specific Case of Delay

He highlighted a particular case involving farmer Siddalingappa Gudi from Hebballi taluk. This case concerns survey number 237/2, measuring eight acres. Sobaradmath referred to the "Uluvavaney Bhoomi Odeya" law, which prohibits the transfer of granted land for 15 years.

Government rules indicate that 37 years have lapsed in this instance. Despite this, the Deputy Commissioner has imposed fresh conditions and issued new orders on the land. Siddalingappa applied for the removal of these conditions back in 2012.

For 13 years, the farmer has been running from pillar to post seeking a resolution. Sobaradmath emphasized this delay as a clear failure of the district administration to perform its duties.

Not an Isolated Incident

Sobaradmath clarified that Siddalingappa's plight is not unique. He alleged that several similar cases, already verified by tahsildars, are currently pending in the Deputy Commissioner's office. Instead of resolving these matters, officials are merely offering assurances and sending farmers away empty-handed.

A Stern Warning Issued

The Raita Sena leader issued a direct warning to the administration. He stated that if Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu does not take immediate steps to resolve the farmers' grievances, his organization will launch a protest.

The protest would demand her transfer and the posting of efficient officers in the Dharwad district. Mallanna Alekar and Subhas Balikayi were also present at the press conference, supporting the statements made.
