Punjab Raid Near Nangal Seizes Illegal Mining Machinery

In a decisive move against unlawful excavation, the Punjab mining department conducted a surprise late-night operation near the Sawan river, leading to the seizure of equipment used for illegal mining activities.

Late-Night Raid Near Khera Kalmot Village

The crackdown took place in the vicinity of Khera Kalmot village along the Sawan river in Nangal. Officials planned the raid with high confidentiality to prevent any information leaks that could jeopardize the operation. The team, led by SDO Mining Narinder and supported by local police, executed the plan during the late-night hours to ensure maximum effectiveness and catch the perpetrators off guard.

Machinery Seized and Legal Action Initiated

During the operation, the authorities successfully recovered three poke-line machines that were being used for illegal sand mining. Additionally, a tipper truck involved in the unlawful excavation was challaned on the spot. All the confiscated equipment was promptly handed over to the Nangal Police for further legal proceedings and investigation.

SDM Nangal Sachin Pathak emphasized the secretive nature of the planning, which was crucial for the raid's success. This approach ensured that those involved in the illegal activity received no prior warning.

Government's Stern Warning Against Illegal Mining

Mining Minister Harjot Singh Bains reiterated the state government's firm stance on eradicating illegal mining. He stated clearly that the administration would not spare anyone engaged in such activities, irrespective of their influence or political connections.

The minister highlighted the dual threat posed by these unlawful operations. "Such activities cause severe environmental damage and drain state revenue. We are committed to eradicating this menace," Bains said. The government has issued directives to all districts to maintain strict vigilance and conduct regular surprise inspections to curb this problem.

Officials confirmed that coordinated enforcement actions will continue unabated. The primary goals are to protect the state's precious natural resources, prevent revenue loss, and uphold the rule of law. This raid near Nangal is a clear signal of the government's intensified campaign against the illegal mining network in Punjab.
