Punjab Congress Chief Warring Predicts Party Win After Kerala Victory

Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring declared that following the party's resounding victory in Kerala, Punjab will be the next state where Congress will reclaim power in the assembly elections scheduled for early next year.

Warring's Optimism for Punjab

In an informal interaction with reporters, Warring emphasized that Congress has emerged significantly stronger in Kerala, having previously won parliamentary and local body elections as well. He expressed confidence that this momentum would carry over to Punjab.

Critique of West Bengal and Assam Results

Responding to queries about West Bengal, Warring attributed the Trinamool Congress (TMC) defeat to multiple factors. He alleged that the Election Commission of India showed partiality and that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) played a role. Additionally, he cited the failures of the TMC government as contributing to its loss. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misusing power and institutions, exploiting corruption and lawlessness in the state for its advantage.

Warring noted that Congress disapproved of the situation in Bengal under TMC rule, which is why the party contested all 294 assembly seats.

Dig at Punjab BJP Leaders

The Punjab Congress president also took a swipe at state BJP leaders who were celebrating the Bengal and Assam results. He stated, "Let me tell them, Punjab is more like Tamil Nadu and Kerala and less like Bengal or Assam." Addressing BJP leaders who view Punjab as their next target, he warned, "In Punjab, the BJP will meet a fate worse than what it met in Tamil Nadu and Kerala." He asserted, "You can't polarise people in Punjab and that is my guarantee; without polarisation, you cannot win even a single seat in the state."

Warring's remarks come amid ongoing election results in multiple states, with Congress aiming to regain ground in Punjab after its Kerala success.
