Priyank Kharge Responds to Mohan Bhagwat's Statement
Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge has sharply criticized RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's recent statement that a religion cannot be registered, dismissing it as both flawed and absurd. Kharge's comments come in response to a video where Bhagwat argued that since the Hindu religion is not registered, the RSS need not be registered either.
Kharge stated, 'Shun the arrogance, follow the law.' He emphasized that the argument that a religion cannot be registered and therefore the RSS need not be registered is both flawed and absurd. The Home Minister insisted that the RSS must comply with legal requirements like any other organization.
This exchange follows a letter Kharge had previously written to Bhagwat, questioning the RSS's registration status. The video, which has since gone viral, shows Bhagwat making the controversial claim during a public event.
Kharge further elaborated that the law applies equally to all, and no organization can claim exemption based on religious affiliation. He urged the RSS to adhere to the legal framework of the country.
The debate has sparked political reactions, with supporters of the RSS defending Bhagwat's remarks, while opposition leaders have backed Kharge's stance. The issue is expected to be discussed further in the Karnataka assembly.
