Andhra Pradesh's Energy Minister, Gottipati Ravi Kumar, has attributed a recent brief power disruption at the revered Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada to a lapse in coordination among officials, urging against politicising the incident.
Minister Addresses Media on Temple Power Outage
Speaking to reporters at the Telugu Desam Party central office in Mangalagiri, the minister provided details about the event. He stated that the power outage lasted for approximately 15 minutes and was restored promptly after authorities were notified. Gottipati Ravi Kumar emphasised that the disruption was not a result of any technical failure within the power infrastructure.
A review meeting was immediately convened with officials from both the Energy and Endowments departments to pinpoint the exact cause. The conclusion pointed squarely towards a lack of proper coordination between the concerned personnel. Senior officials have been directed to submit a detailed report on the lapse, and the minister assured that strict action would be taken against those found responsible.
Corrective Measures and Review Meeting Scheduled
To prevent a recurrence of such incidents, the minister confirmed that corrective measures are being implemented. He stressed that the sentiments of devotees are a top priority for the alliance government. In a significant step, another review meeting has been scheduled for January 6 and 7. This meeting will be held under the leadership of Endowments Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy and will include the temple's executive officer and other senior officials.
Gottipati Ravi Kumar dismissed attempts to create a political controversy over what he termed a "minor lapse." He reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring equal justice and respect for all religions, framing the official response as part of this broader principle.
Minister Comments on District Reorganisation
During the same media interaction, the minister also welcomed the recent administrative changes concerning Prakasam district. He noted that the inclusion of Addanki and Kandukur Assembly constituencies into Prakasam district aligns with public aspirations and corrects previous administrative oversights.
He highlighted that this move fulfills a long-standing demand and mentioned that efforts to form the Addanki Revenue Division had been ongoing since 2012, finally coming to fruition under the current government's administration.
