PMK Unveils Comprehensive Election Manifesto with Focus on Welfare and Economy

In a significant political development, PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss officially launched the party's election manifesto on Wednesday in Chennai. The document outlines a series of ambitious promises aimed at transforming Tamil Nadu's socio-economic landscape if the PMK-led front secures power in the upcoming elections.

Affordable Nutrition and Employment Initiatives

Central to the manifesto is a commitment to provide a nutritious meal for laborers at a highly subsidized rate of just Rs 10. Anbumani Ramadoss detailed that this meal would include rice, sambar, rasam, curd, two side dishes, and pickle for lunch. Additionally, he announced that non-vegetarian food would be offered on Sundays for Rs 25, ensuring dietary variety and accessibility.

Addressing unemployment concerns, the PMK has pledged to create one crore jobs over a five-year period. Furthermore, the party promises a monthly stipend of Rs 5000 for unemployed youth, aiming to provide financial support while they seek employment opportunities.

Educational and Economic Reforms

The manifesto also includes welfare measures for students, with plans to offer free evening snacks to children in government and government-aided schools at the end of each day. This initiative is designed to support nutrition and well-being among young learners.

On the economic front, Anbumani Ramadoss outlined a vision to elevate Tamil Nadu into a $3.5 trillion economy by the year 2047. This ambitious goal underscores the party's focus on long-term growth and development strategies.

Stringent Anti-Drug Measures and Social Justice Survey

In a bold move to combat substance abuse, the PMK manifesto promises stern actions to establish Tamil Nadu as a drug-free state. Key proposals include:

  • Establishing a separate police wing dedicated to curtailing drug movement, headed by a Director General of Police (DGP).
  • Introducing a special toll-free number, '987', exclusively for reporting drug-related activities.
  • Offering a reward of Rs 10,000 to individuals who provide credible information about drug sales and circulation.

Additionally, the party announced plans to conduct a 'social justice survey', which is essentially a caste survey, to gather data for informed policy-making and equitable resource distribution.

Anbumani Ramadoss emphasized these points while speaking to reporters after the manifesto release, highlighting the PMK's commitment to holistic development and public welfare in Tamil Nadu.
