PM Modi launches ₹8,260 crore projects in Uttarakhand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked Uttarakhand's 24th Formation Day with a significant development push, inaugurating and laying foundation stones for projects totaling ₹8,260 crore. The virtual ceremony witnessed the launch of multiple infrastructure initiatives that promise to transform the state's connectivity, healthcare, and economic landscape.

Major Infrastructure Boost for Uttarakhand

The flagship project among the inaugurated developments was the 112-km-long NH-109 (Rudraprayag-Gaurikund) section, constructed at a cost of approximately ₹1,519 crore. This crucial highway enhancement is expected to dramatically improve connectivity to the revered Kedarnath Temple, facilitating smoother pilgrim movement and boosting local tourism.

Another significant transportation project was the Brahmaputra Phase-2 Reactor at BHEL's Rudraprayag facility, representing a substantial investment in the region's industrial capabilities. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the 72-MW hydropower project in Joshimath, strengthening Uttarakhand's position in renewable energy generation.

Healthcare and Institutional Developments

In a major boost to medical infrastructure, PM Modi dedicated AIIMS Rishikesh to the nation, though the institution had been partially operational since 2012. The complete formalization of this premier medical institute marks a significant milestone in healthcare accessibility for the region.

The event also saw the inauguration of multiple new nursing colleges across the state, addressing the critical need for skilled healthcare professionals. These institutions are expected to enhance medical education capacity and improve healthcare delivery in remote areas.

Digital and Educational Infrastructure

Emphasizing the government's digital India vision, the Prime Minister launched several digital connectivity projects aimed at bridging the technological gap in the hilly terrain. These initiatives are designed to improve internet access and digital services in remote communities.

The development package included significant investments in educational infrastructure, with new school buildings and upgraded facilities that will benefit thousands of students across the state. These projects align with the broader vision of creating robust educational ecosystems in hill states.

During his address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted that these projects would create numerous employment opportunities for local youth while accelerating Uttarakhand's overall development trajectory. He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that the benefits of development reach every corner of the state, particularly the remote hill areas that often face connectivity challenges.

The projects inaugurated span multiple sectors including transportation, energy, healthcare, education, and digital infrastructure, creating a comprehensive development framework for the state. This massive investment comes at a crucial time as Uttarakhand continues to strengthen its economic foundations while preserving its ecological balance.
