Patna Police Officer Faces FIR for Alleged Assault on Teen Girl During Parking Dispute Probe

In a shocking incident from Bihar's Siwan district, an FIR has been registered against the station house officer (SHO) of Darauli police station for allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old girl student and pushing her off the roof of her house during an investigation into a parking dispute. The victim, identified as Reema Kumari Gond, is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) and is stated to be in critical condition.

Details of the Alleged Assault

The incident occurred at Tikulia village under the jurisdiction of Darauli police station. According to the victim's family, a dispute broke out between two neighbors over bike parking on April 2. Following this, both sides lodged complaints and later secured bail. The family has alleged that police pressure increased due to the influence and financial power of the opposite party.

Reema Kumari Gond, daughter of Vijay Gond, claimed that on April 10, Darauli SHO Avinash Kumar Jha arrived at her house with a woman constable when her parents were away. She alleged that the officers entered the house without permission, verbally abused her, and physically assaulted her. Most disturbingly, Reema stated that she was pushed off the roof, resulting in fractures to both legs and one arm.

Medical Treatment and Allegations of Cover-Up

Family members immediately rushed the injured girl to a local health center. From there, she was referred to Sadar hospital and later transferred to a private nursing home for specialized care. The family has further alleged that the SHO later attempted to suppress the matter and cover up the incident.

Police Response and Investigation

Siwan superintendent of police Puran Kumar Jha addressed the situation, stating, "An FIR has been registered based on the family's complaint, and a three-member committee has been formed to probe the incident. The SHO has been sent to police lines pending inquiry. Further action will be taken after the probe report is submitted."

The police administration has taken swift action by removing the accused officer from active duty and initiating a thorough investigation into the allegations. The formation of a three-member committee indicates the seriousness with which authorities are treating this case.

Broader Implications

This incident raises significant concerns about police conduct and accountability in Bihar. The alleged assault on a young student during what should have been a routine investigation into a minor parking dispute has sparked outrage and calls for justice. The case highlights the need for proper police training and oversight mechanisms to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

As the investigation progresses, all eyes will be on the police administration to ensure a fair and transparent process that delivers justice to the victim and her family while maintaining public trust in law enforcement institutions.
