AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi to Visit Gujarat for Election Preparations
Gandhinagar: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is gearing up for the upcoming local body elections in Gujarat, with party president Asaduddin Owaisi set to play a pivotal role in the campaign strategy. Owaisi will arrive in Gandhinagar late on Friday to oversee the finalization of candidates and address a significant public gathering.
Strategic Meetings and Candidate Selection
On Saturday, Owaisi will convene a crucial meeting with state party office-bearers. This gathering is expected to be a decisive moment for AIMIM, as it will focus on selecting candidates and outlining the campaign blueprint for the elections. According to Abdul Ahad Khan, a state committee member of AIMIM, the party plans to contest a total of 405 seats across various local bodies.
The seats include:
- Municipal corporations
- Municipalities
- District panchayats
- Taluka panchayats
This ambitious move signals AIMIM's intent to expand its footprint in Gujarat's political landscape, building on past successes.
Public Rally to Kickstart Campaign
To mark the official launch of AIMIM's election campaign, Owaisi will address a public rally on Saturday evening at J P Chowk in Khanpur, Gandhinagar. This event is anticipated to draw significant attention and mobilize support for the party's candidates. The rally serves as a platform for Owaisi to connect with voters and articulate AIMIM's vision for local governance.
AIMIM's Previous Performance in Gujarat
In the 2021 local body elections, AIMIM demonstrated its growing influence by securing notable victories. The party won seven seats in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) election, alongside 16 seats in the municipalities of Modasa and Godhra. These achievements underscore AIMIM's gradual penetration into Gujarat's political arena, setting the stage for a more robust contest in the upcoming polls.
As the election season heats up, all eyes will be on AIMIM's strategies and how they resonate with the electorate in Gujarat.
