Odisha Industries Minister Sets Ambitious Rs 3 Lakh Crore Project Grounding Deadline
In a significant push to accelerate industrial development, Odisha's Industries Minister, Sampad Chandra Swain, issued a clear directive to officials on Wednesday. He emphasized the need to ensure that projects with a total investment value of Rs 3 lakh crore are grounded by the time the Mohan Majhi-led government completes two years in office in June 2026.
Current Progress and Future Targets
As of now, the state has made substantial headway, with projects worth Rs 2.4 lakh crore already having their foundation stones laid or being inaugurated. This progress sets a strong foundation for the ambitious target ahead, highlighting the government's commitment to rapid industrial growth.
During a comprehensive review meeting, Minister Swain urged officials to fast-track the implementation of industrial projects that have received clearance from key authorities. He specifically mentioned the high-level clearance authority (HLCA) and the state level single window clearance authority (SLSWCA), stressing the importance of removing bottlenecks to ensure timely execution.
Approved Projects and Employment Potential
The two authorities have collectively approved a total of 394 projects, representing a massive combined investment of Rs 8.15 lakh crore. These projects are not just about financial influx; they hold the potential to generate over 5 lakh jobs, significantly boosting the state's economy and providing livelihoods for its residents.
"Of these approved projects, 108 initiatives worth more than Rs 2.4 lakh crore have already been grounded or inaugurated," Minister Swain stated. "This has already created around 1.75 lakh employment opportunities, demonstrating the tangible benefits of our industrial policies."

"We are committed to fast-tracking the implementation of the rest of the projects to create more job opportunities for the youth of Odisha," he added.
