Noida Residents Voice Frustration Over Revenue Court Delays in Dadri Tehsil

Several residents from Noida and Greater Noida have come forward with serious allegations against the revenue courts operating within the Dadri tehsil. They claim that these courts are consistently adjourning cases and scheduling hearings in an irregular manner, which has led to a significant increase in the pendency of legal matters. This situation is causing undue hardship for many individuals seeking resolution in land-related disputes.

Litigant Shares Personal Experience of Repeated Postponements

One affected individual, Sujeet Bhati, a resident of Chithera village, shared his distressing experience with Times of India. Bhati has been embroiled in a land registry dispute for the past six months, during which he has faced numerous setbacks. "Over the last six months, I was given a hearing date at least 20 times. However, every time on the day of the hearing, it was postponed and I was told the naib tehsildar was not available. I made rounds of the tehsil without any progress," Bhati explained. His account highlights the frustration and wasted efforts endured by many in similar situations.

Advocate Details Specific Cases Affected by Inconsistent Hearings

In a formal complaint submitted to the district magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar, advocate Rakesh Nagar, who also serves as the former president of the Dadri Bar Association, outlined the types of cases most severely impacted. He pointed out that matters involving mutation, undisputed mutation, inheritance registration, share determination, and correction of clerical errors in land records are especially suffering. Nagar alleged that hearings in the courts of the tehsildar and naib tehsildar are not conducted consistently, resulting in avoidable delays in their disposal.

Nagar emphasized the discrepancy between government directives and the actual handling of cases. "As per government directives, any land disputes should be resolved within three months. Mutation cases should also be resolved within 35 days. But at Dadri, such cases have been pending for over four to five months," the advocate told TOI. He further noted that inheritance registration cases, which occur after the death of landowners, are particularly affected. Families are unable to secure timely entry of names and determination of shares in revenue records, adding to their distress during already difficult times.

Call for Administrative Review and Timely Resolution

In his letter, advocate Nagar urged the district administration to conduct a thorough review of the functioning of the revenue courts in Dadri tehsil. He stressed the need to ensure that cases are heard and decided within a reasonable timeframe, in alignment with established government guidelines. This call to action aims to restore efficiency and fairness in the legal process for residents dealing with land disputes.

Official Response Denies Allegations of Irregularities

However, the allegations have been firmly rejected by Dadri SDM Anuj Nehra. In a statement, Nehra asserted that all hearings are proceeding as scheduled in the courts. "All hearings are going on in the courts. Sometimes it happens that the tehsildar may be called to the Allahabad High Court but otherwise regular work is going on and the allegations are completely baseless," she said. This response contrasts sharply with the experiences shared by residents and the advocate, indicating a potential disconnect between official claims and ground realities.

The ongoing dispute underscores broader issues within the local governance and judicial systems in Noida and Greater Noida. As residents continue to voice their concerns, the need for transparency and accountability in revenue court operations becomes increasingly apparent. The situation calls for a balanced approach that addresses both the administrative challenges and the legitimate grievances of the affected parties.
