Nashik Civic Body Rolls Out Digital Appreciation Certificates for Voters
The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) is pulling out all the stops to encourage more people to vote in the upcoming civic elections this Thursday. They have launched a fresh initiative that rewards voters with digital certificates of appreciation.
How the Digital Certificate Program Works
Citizens who cast their ballots can easily obtain these certificates. They just need to upload a photo showing the indelible ink mark on their finger. Along with the photo, they must submit basic details on a special portal created for this purpose.
The NMC developed this portal with help from a local college student. It is designed to make the process smooth and accessible for all residents.
Voter Awareness Campaigns in Full Swing
Over the past few weeks, the civic administration has run multiple voter awareness campaigns. These efforts aim to motivate Nashik residents to participate actively in the election process.
In the 2017 civic polls, voter turnout reached 61.6%. The NMC now hopes to surpass that figure with its current outreach drives.
This time, the number of registered voters has seen a significant increase. It has grown by 26%, bringing the total to 13.6 lakh voters.
Creative Campaign Elements Across the City
As part of the awareness activities, the NMC unveiled selfie-point standees at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan on Monday. This building serves as the civic headquarters.
These standees feature voting messages and have been placed at various locations throughout Nashik. They encourage people to take photos and share their voting experience.
Mita Chaudhari, the NMC's education officer, provided details about the campaign's start. She said the voter awareness drive began on December 31, 2025.
On that day, the civic body administered an oath to over 25,000 people. This event took place on the banks of the Godavari river, where a large crowd had gathered to welcome the New Year.
The NMC's comprehensive approach includes both digital incentives and on-ground activities. They are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a higher voter turnout in the crucial civic polls.
