Jaipur: Nagaur police on Friday arrested a 20-year-old man after a video of a car swerving dangerously during a wedding procession went viral, triggering a crackdown on reckless 'nagin dance' driving on public roads.
Accused Identified and Arrested
The accused, identified as Manish Jat, allegedly drove a Scorpio-N in a zigzag pattern behind a DJ vehicle during a procession on April 30, putting commuters and revellers at risk. The widely shared clip shows the SUV lurching from side to side in sync with loud music—part of a growing but hazardous trend seen at wedding celebrations.
Police Operation and Seizure
Acting on the viral footage, a Khimsar police team launched an operation under the direction of SP Roshan Meena. Police said the vehicle's registration number was clearly visible in the video. Using the RajCop system, officers traced it to the Khimsar police station area and identified the driver. Police also seized the Scorpio used in the stunt.
Public Safety Concerns
Officers said such stunts—often performed for social media traction—pose serious threats to public safety. The action, they added, is intended to send a strong message against reckless driving disguised as celebration.
