Mysuru MP Announces Railway Underbridge Project, Criticizes Official Culture
Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar declared on Tuesday that a railway underbridge will be constructed near Kukkarahalli lake, with construction work scheduled to commence within the next 15 days. The announcement came after he inspected the site alongside officials from the National Highways Authority of India and other relevant departments.
Environmental Protection Measures
The MP emphasized that the green cover in the area will be safeguarded during the project. Instead of cutting down trees, approximately 40 trees will be relocated from around the Manipal Hospital junction as part of the flyover initiative. This move aims to preserve the ecological balance while advancing infrastructure development.
Criticism of Government Officials
Yaduveer expressed strong dissatisfaction with the functioning of government officials in Mysuru district, alleging that an "officialdom culture" prevails where elected representatives are not accorded due importance. "Officials are not responding to the concerns and requests of public representatives," he stated, noting that this issue persists despite Mysuru being the home district of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
He urged the concerned authorities to enhance their responsiveness and accountability, advocating for better coordination with elected representatives to address public grievances effectively.
Traffic Signal Concerns
The MP also raised objections to what he described as the unscientific installation of traffic signals across Mysuru city. He pointed out that signals have been placed at very short distances, causing inconvenience to motorists and leading to unnecessary traffic delays. "It is unclear who has authorized such installations. The public is facing difficulties due to poorly planned signal placements," he remarked, highlighting the need for a review of traffic management strategies.
Issues at Chamundi Hills
Yaduveer further criticized the functioning of authorities at Chamundi Hills, stating that officials are not addressing local residents' concerns. Referring to the Shree Chamundeshwari Kshetra Development Authority, he mentioned that multiple complaints have been received about officials disregarding public opinion and failing to resolve local problems. He noted that the matter is currently under judicial consideration, underscoring the need for improved governance and community engagement.
