Mysuru Minister Urges Swift Action on Road-Widening to Combat Traffic Woes

Mysuru district in-charge minister HC Mahadevappa has issued a directive for immediate road-widening initiatives to tackle the escalating traffic congestion in the city. Speaking at a review meeting held at the ZP mini hall on Monday, the minister emphasized the critical need for systematic infrastructure development to ensure smooth vehicular movement and support Mysuru's ongoing growth.

Review Meeting Focuses on Infrastructure Progress

The meeting was convened to assess the progress of road-widening works under zonal offices 7 and 9. Minister Mahadevappa stressed that timely execution of these projects is essential to alleviate traffic bottlenecks and enhance urban mobility. He instructed concerned departments to accelerate the process of obtaining No Objection Certificates (NOCs) by formally corresponding with relevant authorities regarding land requirements.

Land Acquisition and Development Strategies

In cases involving private land, the minister advised officials to proceed with acquisition through the issuance of transferable development rights (TDR), strictly adhering to existing rules and regulations. This approach aims to streamline the process while ensuring compliance with legal frameworks.

Key Road Stretches Identified for Widening

MCC commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif provided detailed information on the proposed projects, highlighting several major stretches earmarked for widening:

  • Government guest house to Kalikamba temple
  • Bengaluru–Nilgiri road from Dr BR Ambedkar circle to Fountain circle, and from Five Light circle towards the Suburban bus stand
  • Male Mahadeshwara road from Gopala Gowda hospital Circle to Buddha Circle
  • Chamundi Vihar Stadium road from SP office Circle to Gopala Gowda hospital Circle
  • Pulakeshi Road from Dr BR Ambedkar circle to Ashoka Road
  • Hyder Ali Road from Dr BR Ambedkar circle to Aziz Sait Double Road
  • Dr Rajkumar Road

The meeting saw participation from key stakeholders, including Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait, DC G Lakshmikanth Reddy, ZP CEO S Yukesh Kumar, KPA director N Vishnuvardhan, and senior officials from various departments.
