Mysuru Administration Intensifies Efforts to Reclaim Public Lands

The Mysuru district administration has initiated a comprehensive campaign to clear encroachments on government properties, with particular emphasis on lakes in rural areas. This decisive move aims to secure land for essential public infrastructure projects.

Directives for Encroachment Removal and Land Protection

During a crucial meeting held on Wednesday, Mysuru Additional Deputy Commissioner Shivaraju issued clear instructions to assistant commissioners, tahsildars, and land records officials. He mandated the creation of a detailed schedule for removing encroachments from government land.

With the government requiring land for primary health centres, anganwadi centres, housing colonies, and other vital public projects, Shivaraju emphasized the urgency of identifying and clearing encroachments. He directed officials to demarcate boundaries and erect fencing to ensure these lands remain reserved for public use.

The ADC specifically instructed tahsildars and revenue officials to accelerate efforts to clear lake encroachments, recognizing the environmental and community importance of these water bodies.

Accelerating Land Record Initiatives

Shivaraju further directed officials to speed up the ongoing pouthi khata issuance drive in villages. He authorized revenue officers to verify land records at their level and issue pouthi khatas to eligible landowners, streamlining the process for citizens.

The ADC warned that he would conduct surprise inspections to review progress and take disciplinary action against officials delaying pouthi khata issuance, demonstrating the administration's commitment to efficient service delivery.

Digital Transformation of Land Records

In a significant push toward modernization, Shivaraju instructed officials to complete the digitization of land records under the Bhoo Suraksha Yojana across all taluks. This comprehensive digitization includes:

  • All property categories, including A-khata and B-khata properties
  • Making records available online through the Bhoo Suraksha portal
  • Achieving 100% Aadhaar seeding with RTCs by the fiscal year-end

These measures, part of the Bhoo Aadhaar project, are designed to prevent fraudulent land transactions and provide enhanced ownership security to landholders.

Emphasis on Local Problem-Solving

Shivaraju urged officials to work efficiently and complete all revenue department works, including:

  1. Clearing pending land dispute cases
  2. Providing solutions to people at their doorstep
  3. Avoiding unnecessary visits by citizens to multiple offices

"If officials solve problems at their local level, people will not raise complaints at the district level," Shivaraju emphasized. He directed assistant commissioners and tahsildars to regularly visit villages to inspect progress achieved by subordinate officials, ensuring accountability and effective implementation of all initiatives.
