The investigation into the controversial Mundhwa land deal involving a firm linked to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's son, Parth Pawar, has taken a significant turn. The Pimpri Chinchwad police have announced they will probe detailed submissions made by anti-corruption activists, which they say make the case "multidimensional and vast." This development was formally communicated to a Pune court on Tuesday, December 24, 2025, while seeking an extension of police custody for a key accused, Sheetal Tejwani.
Activists' Allegations Add New Dimensions to Probe
Anti-corruption crusaders Vijay Kumbhar and Anjali Damania held a press conference on Monday, December 23. They presented a series of documents and communications which, they allege, prove Parth Pawar's direct involvement in the Mundhwa land transaction since May 2021. Based on their findings, they have demanded that Parth Pawar be named as an accused in the First Information Report (FIR).
The activists formally submitted their evidence to the Bavdhan police station on December 22 and 23. A police officer confirmed that these allegations suggest the probe's scope is extensive, and all claims will be thoroughly investigated. "We have informed the court about these submissions while seeking an extension of Tejwani's custody," the officer stated.
Extended Custody and Ongoing Investigations
On Tuesday, a Pune court granted the police an additional four days of custody for Sheetal Tejwani, a central figure in the case. Tejwani, who was first arrested by Pune City police on December 3, has been in the custody of Pimpri Chinchwad police since December 16.
Police informed the court that they are also investigating transactions and document exchanges between Tejwani and a person who worked as her office boy. Notably, this individual allegedly signed the application, affidavit, and authorization letter filed by Amadea Enterprises LLP for the adjudication process before the competent authority. Amadea Enterprises is the firm at the heart of the scandal, where Parth Pawar is a partner along with Digvijay Patil.
The Core of the Mundhwa Land Scandal
The case, registered at Bavdhan police station on November 6 following a complaint from the Inspector General of Registration (IGR) office, revolves around alleged graft and irregularities. The FIR, which includes charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust, names Digvijay Patil, Sheetal Tejwani, and suspended sub-registrar Ravindra Taru.
The controversy stems from the sale of a Mahar Watan land in Mundhwa, which was leased to the Botanical Survey of India. The land was sold to Amadea Enterprises LLP without the mandatory state government approval. The deal was executed at a price significantly below market value and benefited from a stamp duty waiver, raising serious questions about procedural bypasses and potential losses to the state exchequer.
Ravindra Taru, the sub-registrar who officiated the deal, was arrested on December 7 and is currently in judicial custody. As the Pimpri Chinchwad police continue their investigation, the inclusion of activists' claims promises to widen the net and examine all angles of this politically sensitive case.
