Congress candidate Ashraf Azmi secured second position with 7,782 votes. Kaptan Malik found himself in third place with 4,863 votes. This marked a significant setback for the experienced NCP corporator.

The election brought both bitter and sweet results for the Malik political family. While Kaptan Malik lost in Ward 165, other family members achieved success elsewhere.
Bushra Malik won from Ward 168. Sayeeda Khan secured victory in Ward 170. These wins demonstrated the family's continued influence in certain areas of Mumbai.
