Morbi Police Conduct Major Liquor Seizures Amid Election Code of Conduct

In a significant enforcement action, the Morbi police have seized liquor valued at approximately Rs 1 crore in two unconnected raids, as the model code of conduct for local body elections remains in force. These operations highlight the heightened vigilance during the electoral period to curb illegal activities.

First Raid: Truck Intercepted on Mitana-Neknam-Paddhari Road

Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted a truck that was parked on the Mitana-Neknam-Paddhari Road, reportedly en route to Paddhari. Upon thorough inspection, authorities discovered a substantial haul of 14,352 bottles of various brands of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). The estimated value of this seizure is Rs 56.94 lakh, underscoring the scale of the illegal consignment.

Second Raid: Three Cars Stopped on Sanala Bypass

In a separate operation, the Morbi City A Division police intercepted three cars on the Sanala bypass. During this raid, they recovered IMFL worth Rs 57 lakh, further adding to the total seizure amount. Both incidents occurred under the strict enforcement of the model code of conduct, which aims to maintain a fair electoral environment by preventing the distribution of liquor and other inducements.
