Congress MLA's Son Allegedly Orchestrated Fake Assault in Rudrapur

In a startling development from Rudrapur, police officials have revealed that the recent alleged attack on a Congress MLA's son was actually a staged incident designed to generate public sympathy and resolve personal disputes. The investigation, which concluded after four days of intensive scrutiny, has uncovered what authorities describe as a carefully planned conspiracy.

Details of the Alleged Staged Incident

According to police reports, Saurabh Raj Behar (35), who serves as a councillor from ward 39 and is the son of Kichha MLA Tilak Raj Behar, allegedly planned the fake assault with the assistance of his friend Inder Narang. The incident reportedly occurred on January 18, when Saurabh left his home claiming he was attending a panchayat meeting.

He later claimed to have been attacked by three masked men traveling on a motorcycle, who were allegedly armed with sticks and rods. Following this reported assault, Saurabh was admitted to a hospital for treatment of what he described as injuries to his hands, spine, and legs.

Police Investigation Uncovers Inconsistencies

Multiple police teams and special operations groups conducted a thorough investigation that included:

  • Analysis of CCTV footage from the scene and surrounding areas
  • Examination of surveillance inputs and movement patterns
  • Detailed scrutiny of routes adjacent to the alleged crime scene

Officials stated that several inconsistencies emerged during their probe, ultimately leading to the discovery of what they believe was a fabricated assault. SSP Manikant Mishra explained that the investigation revealed Narang had recruited three students to carry out the staged attack.

Execution of the Staged Assault

Police reports indicate that the alleged conspirators took specific measures to make the fake attack appear genuine:

  1. The recruited students were instructed to cover their faces during the incident
  2. The motorcycle's number plate was removed to avoid identification
  3. The location was shifted to near the Shiv Shakti PG gate to minimize public attention
  4. Narang allegedly followed the assailants in his car and later assisted in their escape

During subsequent arrests, police recovered two country-made pistols and a knife from the suspects. According to SSP Mishra, Narang admitted during questioning that Saurabh wanted to be assaulted to generate sympathy due to strained relations with his wife.

Political Fallout and Family Response

As the police findings became public, MLA Tilak Raj Behar took the extraordinary step of publicly distancing himself from his son. The 68-year-old legislator addressed a press conference at his residence on Thursday, making a strong statement about the incident.

"I do not support wrongdoing, even if it is committed by my own son," the MLA declared. "I seek people's forgiveness for this unfortunate episode."

Describing the situation as both a personal and moral setback, the veteran politician announced he was severing all ties with his son and would not seek any leniency in the legal proceedings. "He must face the law," Behar emphasized. "What he has done has damaged the dignity of our family and the trust of society."

The case continues to develop as authorities pursue further investigations and legal proceedings against those allegedly involved in orchestrating the staged assault.
