MLA Darshan Puttannaiah Oversees Preparations for Historic Vairamudi Brahmotsava
Melukote MLA Darshan Puttannaiah has issued a directive to officials to ensure comprehensive arrangements for the smooth conduct of the historic Vairamudi Brahmotsava, which is expected to attract lakhs of devotees. Chairing a preliminary meeting at Melukote on Wednesday, the MLA stressed the urgent need for coordinated action to provide essential infrastructure and public amenities for the festival.
Key Focus Areas for Festival Arrangements
During the meeting, MLA Darshan Puttannaiah emphasised several critical aspects to avoid inconvenience for attendees. He highlighted the importance of:
- Uninterrupted drinking water supply throughout the festival duration.
- Robust security measures to ensure the safety of all participants.
- Effective crowd management systems to handle the large gatherings expected.
Authorities were instructed to install proper barricading along procession routes to regulate crowds and ensure a seamless ceremonial flow. Various departments were also tasked with providing adequate sanitation facilities, medical services, and well-organised transport arrangements through KSRTC, the state transport service.
Global Significance and Detailed Planning
Deputy commissioner Kumara underscored the global significance of the Vairamudi Brahmotsava, particularly the ceremonial adornment of Lord Cheluvanarayanaswamy with the sacred diamond-studded crown. He called for meticulous planning, including:
- A dedicated media gallery within the temple premises to facilitate coverage.
- Strict maintenance of cleanliness to uphold the sanctity of the event.
The festival is scheduled to start on March 23 and conclude on April 4, with special focus placed on the Teppotsava at Pancha Kalyani on April 1. Officials were directed to ensure safety during this event through proper lighting, temporary sanitation facilities, and designated parking zones with clear signage.
Emergency Preparedness and Official Attendance
To handle any potential emergencies, medical units will be deployed at key locations throughout the festival. Senior officials, including superintendent of police VJ Shobharani, attended the meeting, demonstrating a collaborative effort to ensure the event's success.
