Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya launched a scathing attack on the opposition Congress and Samajwadi Party during a media interaction in Varanasi. He defended the central government's move to replace the MNREGA scheme with the new VB-G RAM-G initiative.
Congress is the 'Mother of Corruption': Maurya's Sharp Attack
Speaking on the sidelines of the prize distribution ceremony for the 72nd National Volleyball Championship in Varanasi, Maurya labeled the Congress party as the "mother of corruption". He accused the party of creating obstacles whenever attempts are made to eradicate corruption from the system.
"The Congress picks up issues that people have already rejected, which is making the party increasingly irrelevant," Maurya told reporters. He explained that the VB-G RAM-G Act was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government specifically to end corruption prevalent in schemes like MNREGA.
Highlighting the benefits of the new scheme, Maurya stated, "This is a historic move initiated by the PM to make a corruption-free India." He claimed to congratulate the Prime Minister on behalf of 25 crore people of Uttar Pradesh.
VB-G RAM-G Cuts Out Middlemen, Says Deputy CM
Maurya elaborated that the Congress party is uncomfortable with the VB-G RAM-G scheme because it eliminates middlemen and corrupt practices. He made a bold allegation, stating, "They used to pocket 85 paise of every rupee in government schemes."
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that the new scheme ensures funds reach beneficiaries directly without leakage, which is why opposition parties are protesting against it.
Mocking Akhilesh Yadav's PDA Push
Maurya also targeted Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav over his recent promotion of PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) and the release of a PDA Panchang. He dismissed these efforts as politically motivated and insincere.
"Akhilesh Yadav's PDA is fake," Maurya declared. "When Akhilesh was Chief Minister of UP from 2012 to 2017, he never thought of backward classes, Dalits, and poor people." He suggested that only the "pain of being out of power" is compelling the SP leader to remember these communities now.
On the omission of the Ram temple from the PDA Panchang, Maurya sarcastically remarked, "We do not even expect 'Ram-traitors' to make any mention."
Warning on Voter List and Future Elections
The Deputy CM advised Akhilesh Yadav not to "lose his mental balance" after the alliance's defeat in the Bihar election. He addressed concerns about voter lists, suggesting that if genuine voters' names are missing, the SP should work to include them through proper forms during the ongoing revision process.
Maurya alleged that the SP is protesting because "if the voter list is purified, they will not be able to cast fake votes and will lose the 2027 election as well."
He concluded with a confident prediction about the BJP's electoral prospects, noting that the party's symbol, the lotus, has bloomed in Haryana, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Bihar after opposition "lies were exposed." Maurya forecasted similar success in West Bengal and a "bigger victory in UP in 2027 than in 2017."
