Mandya Prison Search Finds No Banned Items

In a significant operation aimed at bolstering security, authorities in Mandya conducted an intensive search at the District Prison on Monday. The large-scale drive, part of a statewide initiative, concluded without discovering any banned or prohibited substances within the facility.

Massive Joint Operation Ensures Safety

The security sweep was a coordinated effort between the Mandya police and the prison administration. Its primary goal was to ensure safety and completely prevent the entry or circulation of illegal items inside the prison premises. Officials stated that the operation was carried out systematically to leave no area unchecked.

Superintendent Shantha of the Mandya District Prison provided details to the media, revealing the scale of the operation. A total of 84 police personnel, including senior officers like the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), joined forces with the prison staff to conduct the thorough inspection.

Timing and Scope of the Search

The meticulous search operation lasted for nearly one and a half hours. It commenced at 3:00 PM and continued until 4:35 PM, during which teams scoured all sections of the prison complex. Strict supervision was maintained throughout the process to ensure it was completed smoothly and without any incidents.

"The security search was conducted systematically, and no banned objects were found during the inspection," Superintendent Shantha confirmed. This outcome highlights the effectiveness of ongoing vigilance, though officials emphasize that such checks are crucial for deterrence.

Context and Inmate Population

The operation took place at a time when the total inmate count at the Mandya District Prison stood at 295. These statewide security search drives in Karnataka prisons are periodic measures designed to disrupt any potential illicit networks and uphold law and order within correctional facilities.

While this particular search yielded no contraband, authorities affirm that the exercise itself serves as a strong preventive message. It reinforces a zero-tolerance policy towards banned substances and underscores the commitment to maintaining secure and orderly prison environments across the state.
