Mandya ZP CEO Issues Strict March 15 Deadline for 100% Tax Collection
In a decisive move, Mandya Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer KR Nandini has directed all officials to ensure 100% progress in tax collection by March 15, with a stern warning that disciplinary action will be initiated against officers and staff who fail to meet this critical target. The directive was issued during a progress review meeting held at the ZP mini hall on Wednesday, where Nandini emphasized the urgency of aligning collection efforts with pre-fixed taluk-wise goals.
Praise for Model Performance and Concern Over Lagging Areas
During the meeting, CEO Nandini publicly appreciated the executive officer and staff of Pandavapura taluk panchayat for achieving 100% tax collection, highlighting their dedicated efforts as a model for other taluks to emulate. However, she expressed significant concern over gram panchayat development officers and staff in areas where tax collection remains below 70%. These officials were instructed to drastically improve their performance before the next review meeting, with Nandini stressing that such low figures are unacceptable.
Daily Door-to-Door Visits Mandated to Boost Efficiency
To enhance collection efficiency, Nandini emphasized the importance of daily door-to-door visits by tax officials. This proactive approach is aimed at addressing taxpayer concerns directly and ensuring timely payments, thereby accelerating the overall collection process across the district.
Review of MGNREGA Implementation and Other Key Initiatives
Beyond tax collection, the CEO reviewed the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), reiterating that e-KYC is mandatory for all labourers. Officials were directed to identify beneficiaries facing technical issues and report them promptly for resolution. Additionally, Nandini instructed that ad hoc committee meetings be held daily to clear pending social audit objections, particularly those related to royalty payments.
A 100-day campaign was launched to resolve local audit paragraphs and submit compliance reports, underscoring the administration's commitment to transparency and accountability. Nandini also sought detailed reports on library cess payments and differential allowances for supervisors, ensuring all financial aspects are meticulously tracked.
Infrastructure and Sanitation Focus
In line with broader development goals, Nandini mandated the completion of geo-tagging for household toilets, a crucial step in monitoring sanitation coverage. She further directed that proposals for repairing drinking water units be submitted immediately, addressing essential infrastructure needs to improve public health and living standards in the district.
