In a significant administrative overhaul, the Telangana government has executed a major reshuffle of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers following the reorganisation of police commissionerates in Hyderabad. This restructuring has led to key appointments and the creation of a new commissionerate aimed at managing the city's expanding urban landscape.
New Commissioners Take Charge in Reorganised Structure
The state government has appointed Avinash Mohanty as the new Police Commissioner for the Malkajgiri commissionerate. This commissionerate is essentially the renamed version of the former Rachakonda commissionerate. In a parallel move, Sudheer Babu has been appointed as the inaugural Commissioner of the newly formed Future City commissionerate, marking a fresh start for this administrative zone.
For the Cyberabad commissionerate, M. Ramesh has been appointed as the new Commissioner, taking over the reins from Avinash Mohanty. These appointments come as a direct consequence of the state's decision to reconfigure the tri-commissionerate system that governs the Hyderabad metropolitan area.
Details of the Police Commissionerate Reorganisation
The restructuring involved streamlining the existing Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates. Both have been reduced to three zones each. The Maheshwaram zone and its surrounding areas, which were carved out of the old Rachakonda commissionerate, now form the core of the brand-new Future City commissionerate.
Furthermore, the Yadadri-Bhongir Zone of the erstwhile Rachakonda has been elevated to a full-fledged district. The government has appointed the existing Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Akshansh Yadav, as the new Superintendent of Police for this district.
New Zone Names Under the Revised Setup
With the new changes in effect, the zones under the revamped commissionerates have been renamed as follows:
Cyberabad Commissionerate: The three zones will now be known as Kukatpally, Qutubullapur, and Serlingampalli.
Rachakonda Commissionerate (now Malkajgiri): This commissionerate will comprise the Malkajgiri, Uppal, and LB Nagar zones.
This comprehensive reshuffle and territorial reorganisation are designed to improve policing efficiency and administrative oversight in Hyderabad, catering to its rapid growth and evolving urban challenges. The creation of the Future City commissionerate specifically addresses the infrastructural and security needs of the city's burgeoning peripheral areas.
