Law Student Killed in Chhattisgarh Home Attack

A 19-year-old law student, the son of a cement and sand trader and Congress functionary, was shot dead, and his younger brother sustained injuries after three masked gunmen stormed their residence in Janjgir-Champa district shortly after midnight on Friday.

Incident Details

The attack occurred at their home in Karhi village under the Birra area. According to police, the assailants arrived on a motorcycle, locked family members inside rooms from the outside, and opened fire on the sleeping brothers before fleeing with some cash and mobile phones. Ayush Kashyap, a second-year BA LLB student, was shot twice in the chest and died on the spot. His brother Ashutosh (16) suffered a gunshot wound to the hand and is reported to be stable.

Investigation Underway

Police stated that the motive remains unclear, and all angles, including business rivalry and robbery, are being investigated. The victim's father has alleged a link to disputes in the sand business. Authorities have set up barricades, alerted neighboring districts, and deployed forensic and cyber teams to assist in the investigation.
