KPCC Spokesperson Defends Karnataka Budget, Slams BJP and Centre

In a press conference held in Mysuru on Saturday, KPCC spokesperson M Lakshmana strongly defended the 17th budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, describing it as inclusive in nature and aimed at the overall development of Karnataka with forward-looking policies. Lakshmana emphasized that the budget is designed to benefit all sections of society and propel the state towards sustainable growth.

Criticism of BJP Leaders and Allegations of Misleading Public

Addressing reporters, Lakshmana launched a scathing attack on BJP leaders R Ashok and Chalavadi Narayana Swamy, accusing them of misleading the public with baseless allegations. He argued that instead of constructively engaging with the budget's proposals, the Opposition has resorted to spreading false information to undermine the government's efforts.

Accusations Against Union Government Over Tax Revenue

Lakshmana alleged that the Union government is cheating Karnataka by denying the state its rightful share of tax revenues. He claimed that this denial hampers the state's ability to fund development projects and implement welfare schemes effectively, despite Karnataka's significant contributions to the national exchequer.

Questioning Centre's Economic Policies

The KPCC spokesperson also questioned the economic policies of the Centre, stating that despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi projecting himself as a 'Vishwaguru', the country is being pushed into a financial crisis. Lakshmana highlighted issues such as rising inflation, unemployment, and fiscal mismanagement as evidence of the Centre's failed policies.

Challenge for Open Debate on Economic Policies

Challenging the Opposition, Lakshmana dared BJP leaders to come for an open debate on the state's economic policies and the budget presented by the chief minister. He expressed confidence that such a debate would expose the BJP's lack of substantive arguments and their reliance on empty rhetoric.

Details on Projects Announced for Mysuru District

Lakshmana provided specific details on the projects announced in the budget, noting that the chief minister announced 41 projects for the district, including 27 projects for Mysuru city alone. He contrasted this with the previous budget, where 23 projects were announced for Mysuru, stating, "This time, the number nearly doubled."

Rhetorical Question to BJP Leaders

In a pointed remark, Lakshmana questioned, "Did the BJP leaders bring even Rs 5 worth of projects for Mysuru in the Union Budget?" This rhetorical question was aimed at highlighting what he perceives as the BJP's neglect of the region in central funding allocations.

Overall, Lakshmana's statements underscore the political tensions surrounding Karnataka's budget, with the Congress defending its initiatives and the BJP facing accusations of obstructionism and fiscal injustice from the Centre.
