Kerala Opposition Leader Slams CM's Communal Politics, Calls for Unity

Kerala opposition leader V D Satheesan made strong statements against communal politics in the state. He spoke to reporters in Kochi on Sunday. Satheesan emphasized Kerala's secular character. He said the state will always stand with those who oppose communalism.

Satheesan Accuses CM of Hypocrisy

Satheesan directly criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He pointed out apparent contradictions in the CM's actions. Vijayan claims to oppose communalism publicly. Yet he recently draped a shawl on SNDP general secretary Vellappally Natesan. Satheesan noted that Natesan's speeches often contain communal hatred.

The opposition leader expressed concern about this gesture. He questioned the CM's commitment to secular values. This incident reveals a troubling pattern according to Satheesan.

Warning Against Political Manipulation

Satheesan issued a clear warning to Vellappally Natesan. He urged the SNDP leader not to become a tool for political parties. The opposition leader specifically mentioned CPM and BJP. He accused both parties of spreading communalism in Kerala.

"Vellappally is becoming a tool for many," Satheesan stated. "That should not happen." He clarified his position regarding community relations. "Everyone knows about claims that I am against the Ezhava community. We win elections because people from all communities vote for us, including followers of Sree Narayana."

Disruption of Hindu Unity

Satheesan raised questions about unity among Hindu organizations. He asked how the unity between NSS and SNDP was being disrupted. The opposition leader pointed fingers at Muslim League for this disruption.

He explained the political dynamics clearly. "Both League and Congress speak with one voice," Satheesan said. "We are part of the UDF team." He urged everyone to stand together against divisive forces.

Call for Communal Harmony

The opposition leader presented a vision for Kerala. "Our wish is for everyone to come together in unity," he stated firmly. "There should be no conflicts among people. Communal tensions shouldn't arise in Kerala. Instead, we need genuine communal harmony."

Satheesan promised support for peace initiatives. "Anyone who takes the initiative to promote communal harmony will be supported," he declared.

CPM Following Sangh Parivar Tactics

Satheesan made serious allegations against the ruling party. He said widespread hate propaganda currently affects Kerala. This propaganda was previously led by Sangh Parivar according to the opposition leader.

"Their strategy was simple," Satheesan explained. "Create religious disputes and benefit politically from the resulting divisions." He accused CPM of adopting this dangerous approach. "CPM is following Sangh Parivar's path. They are employing the same tactics in Kerala now."

Questioning CM's Secular Credentials

Satheesan challenged the chief minister's right to speak about secularism. He referenced a statement by CPM central committee member A K Balan. According to Satheesan, this statement used Sangh Parivar tactics to incite communal discord.

"Even when CPM state secretary M V Govindan rejected that statement, Pinarayi defended Balan," Satheesan noted. He concluded sharply: "Vijayan is operating just like Sangh Parivar."

Defending His Outreach Efforts

Satheesan defended his meetings with various community leaders. He asked a simple question: "What was wrong in meeting the synod?" The opposition leader explained his approach clearly.

"I talked to them. I also went to Perunna," he stated. "Everyone in Congress shares the same opinion." He showed respect for elder community leaders. "NSS general secretary Sukumaran Nair has the freedom to criticize me. They are all elderly people. I won't speak ill of anyone."

Satheesan acknowledged Nair's respectful approach. "Nair hasn't used a bad word against me," he concluded. The opposition leader's statements highlight growing concerns about communal politics in Kerala.
