Kejriwal Slams BJP Over Goa Law & Order Crisis: Murders, Shootings Reported
Kejriwal Accuses BJP of Goa Law & Order Collapse

Kejriwal's Sharp Criticism Against BJP-Led Goa Government

Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday, accusing them of transforming Goa into what he described as a lawless state with escalating criminal activities. The former Delhi chief minister expressed deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the coastal paradise.

Through his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Kejriwal posed a troubling question: "What is happening in Goa? This is a total collapse of law & order in Goa under the BJP." His statement highlighted several recent violent incidents that have shaken the state's peace and security.

Series of Violent Incidents Rock Goa

Kejriwal cited multiple disturbing cases that have emerged recently. A Goan citizen opposing hill cutting was murdered, while other citizens faced gunfire when protesting against illegal sand extraction activities. In another shocking incident, a young man was brutally beaten inside a police station, raising serious questions about police conduct and safety.

The AAP leader specifically mentioned the Saligao incident where people were killed in a pool of blood, painting a grim picture of the current security scenario. To substantiate his claims, Kejriwal referenced various newspaper clippings that documented these alarming events.

Government Response and NSA Implementation

The allegations surface against the backdrop of a recent attack on social activist Rama Kankonkar by seven individuals, all identified as habitual offenders. This incident has intensified public concern about recurring criminal behavior and the safety of activists.

Growing worries about increasing gang fights across the state have prompted the Goa government to take decisive action. On Thursday, Under Secretary (Home) Manthan Manoj Naik issued an official order authorizing the state's two district collectors to exercise preventive detention powers under the National Security Act for three months.

The order specifically cited "prevailing circumstances" in the coastal state as the rationale behind this significant security measure. This authorization enables district magistrates to invoke the NSA, a powerful law typically reserved for maintaining national security, indicating the seriousness of the situation.

Currently, the Aam Aadmi Party maintains political representation in Goa with two MLAs in the state legislative assembly, giving them a platform to voice these concerns and hold the ruling government accountable for public safety issues.
