Addressing a grand UP Diwas event organized at Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, MP Ramesh Awasthi described Uttar Pradesh Day as a powerful symbol of the state's pride, identity, and inherent strength. He reflected on the state's rich historical and cultural legacy, noting that this is the sacred land where culture took shape and the profound traditions of Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, and Gautam Buddha developed. The MP also underscored Uttar Pradesh's historic and monumental role in India's freedom movement, which continues to inspire generations.

Ramesh Awasthi stated that Kanpur's development has picked up remarkable new speed under the double-engine government, referring to the alignment of state and central leadership. He expressed confidence that the city is fast moving towards becoming a developed and prosperous Kanpur, benefiting from enhanced governance and focused initiatives.
The event witnessed significant participation from key dignitaries, including MLAs Neelima Katiyar and Saroj Kureel, District Panchayat president Swapnil Varun, District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh, Chief Development Officer Diksha Jain, senior district officials, numerous public representatives, and a large gathering of enthusiastic citizens.

Addressing the assembly, Ghatampur MLA Saroj Kureel commended the significant work carried out in Uttar Pradesh under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership. District Panchayat president Swapnil Varun remarked that over the past eight years, Uttar Pradesh's identity as a state progressing steadily and robustly on the path of comprehensive development has been significantly strengthened. District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh emphasized that the state's rich and diverse cultural heritage remains its invaluable and timeless asset. He added that the markedly improved law and order situation, coupled with effective and transparent governance, has successfully transformed Uttar Pradesh's image on the national stage. This transformation ensures that the benefits of development and welfare initiatives are reaching every section of society equitably.
Showcasing Development and Launching Initiatives
Chief Development Officer Diksha Jain highlighted various ongoing development works and impactful welfare schemes through a detailed presentation that showcased the district's recent achievements and milestones. The presentation provided a comprehensive overview of progress across multiple sectors.
During the programme, MP Ramesh Awasthi, the District Magistrate, and the Chief Development Officer jointly launched a significant signature campaign aimed at preventing child marriage, demonstrating a commitment to social reform and child welfare.
Honouring Contributions and Beneficiaries
On this auspicious occasion, several distinguished individuals were honoured for their outstanding contributions to industrial development and dedicated social service in the district during the financial year 2025–26. The honourees included:

Additionally, beneficiaries of the PM Surya Ghar Scheme, the Tailor Toolkit Scheme, and progressive livestock farmers were honoured for their achievements and adoption of government initiatives.

As part of the vibrant UP Diwas celebrations, informative stalls of 18 different government departments were set up to provide detailed information about various state and central government schemes. Officials actively briefed visitors about the objectives, benefits, and streamlined application processes, drawing a large and engaged public response.
A live telecast of the state-level programme from Rashtriya Prerna Sthal in Lucknow was screened, connecting Kanpur with the broader celebrations. Attendees also viewed a short film that highlighted the remarkable progress and developmental strides of the Kanpur division, showcasing local achievements and future aspirations.
