The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has ramped up its efforts to recover pending Urban Development (UD) tax, taking stringent measures against defaulters in the Murlipura administrative zone. In a decisive move, the civic body attached five properties for non-payment of dues on Friday.
Immediate Payment Follows Enforcement Action
Following the attachment, all five property owners swiftly cleared their outstanding dues, paying a total of approximately Rs 8 lakh. The payments were made through various modes including RTGS, cheques, and cash. Officials noted that the defaulters benefited from the state government's ongoing scheme offering a waiver on interest and penalties, which motivated the on-the-spot settlement.
Transparency and Prompt Recovery Achieved
Murlipura Zone Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kumar Sharma stated that the action ensured both transparency and prompt recovery of funds. "Property owners took advantage of the state government's waiver on interest and penalties to clear their dues on the spot," Sharma said. He emphasized that the drive reinforces the importance of compliance with municipal tax regulations.
The properties that were attached include:
- Plot No 11, Khasra No 906, 907, Dev Nagar, Badarna, Murlipura
- Plot No 1/2/3, Khasra No 906, 907, Dev Nagar, Badarna, Murlipura
- 55 JA Colony, near Shiv Shakti Misthan Bhandar, VKI Road No 17
- 54 JS Colony, near Shiv Shakti Misthan Bhandar, VKI Road No 17
Marriage Halls Sealed for Non-Payment of Fees
In a parallel action, the JMC also sealed two marriage halls located in JS Colony, near Laxmi School, Road No 17. These establishments were shut down for failing to pay their mandatory registration fees to the corporation.
Strict Enforcement to Continue
DC Sharma made it clear that this strict enforcement drive is not a one-off event. "JMC will continue strict enforcement. Properties whose owners fail to pay their dues will face attachment or sealing," he warned. The corporation's goal is threefold: to ensure timely tax collection, maintain its own financial stability, and uphold compliance with all municipal regulations.
The recent actions in Murlipura zone signal a no-nonsense approach by the JMC towards revenue collection, leveraging both enforcement and incentive schemes to clear long-standing dues.
