Indore BRTS Crash: Driver Injured, Probe Underway

A serious collision between two cars on Indore's Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor at Rasoma square late Friday night left one driver with significant injuries. The impact was so forceful that one of the vehicles overturned twice before coming to a halt.

Injured Driver and Immediate Response

The injured driver, identified as Dev Chauhan, sustained a shoulder fracture. Bystanders at the scene promptly rushed him to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Police Account of the Incident

Vijay Nagar police station in-charge Chandrakant Patel reported that the crash occurred around 3 am when two cars approaching the intersection from different directions collided. One vehicle was reportedly coming from the Medanta Hospital side, while the other was approaching from the LIG area. The loud crash drew residents and shopkeepers out of their homes and establishments.

Complaint and Eyewitness Reports

Police stated that a complaint was lodged by Abhishek Jaiswal. Eyewitnesses noted that both vehicles were registered in Ujjain. They also alleged that a group of young women traveling in one of the cars left the scene before police arrived. Three liquor bottles were reportedly found inside that vehicle. However, police said the occupants later informed them that they were on their way for a religious visit.

Investigation Ongoing

The damaged vehicles have been removed from the road. Police have begun examining CCTV footage from the area to determine the exact circumstances leading to the crash and to verify the claims made by the occupants.
