Tragic Car Crash Claims Lives of Hyderabad Couple in Basant Nagar

A devastating car accident in the early hours of Tuesday resulted in the tragic deaths of a couple from Mancherial. The incident occurred in the Basant Nagar area of Ramagundam, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Details of the Fatal Accident

The deceased have been identified as Edla Srinivas, 44, a construction businessman, and his wife, Edla Rajitha, 40, a homemaker. According to police reports, the couple had traveled to Karimnagar on Monday to visit their daughter, Edla Rishitha, who is pursuing an MBBS degree in the town.

The fatal mishap took place as they were returning to Mancherial after their visit. At approximately 3 am on Tuesday, when the car driven by Srinivas reached near the bus stop of Basanthnagar village on State Highway-1, it suddenly veered to the left and crashed violently into a roadside culvert.

Police Investigation and Response

Both Srinivas and Rajitha sustained severe injuries in the crash. Alerted by passers-by who witnessed the accident, Basant Nagar police promptly reached the scene. The injured couple was immediately shifted to the government hospital in Peddapalli for emergency medical attention.

Tragically, both victims were declared brought dead upon arrival at the hospital. Basant Nagar Sub-Inspector N Sridhar stated that preliminary investigations suggest Srinivas might have dozed off while driving, leading to the fatal loss of control.

Legal Proceedings and Aftermath

Following a complaint filed by their daughter Rishitha, authorities registered a case under Section 106 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with causing death due to rash or negligent acts. The bodies were handed over to the grieving family after a post-mortem examination conducted on Tuesday evening.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers of fatigue while driving, especially during late-night hours. The local community has expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of the couple, remembering them as respected members of Mancherial society.
