Nerwa Sports Club Demands Urgent Road Metalling for Kuthar-Auli Route
Himachal's Nerwa Club Demands Kuthar-Auli Road Upgrade

The Nerwa Sports Club has issued a strong appeal to the Himachal Pradesh government, demanding the urgent blacktopping of the vital Kuthar-Auli road link. This unmetalled stretch, spanning approximately five kilometers, has become a significant source of hardship for residents in the Nerwa area of Sirmaur district, severely impacting daily commute and local connectivity.

A Persistent Problem for Local Residents

For years, the residents of several villages, including Kuthar, Auli, and surrounding areas, have been grappling with the poor condition of this essential road. The club highlighted that the route turns treacherous, especially during the monsoon season, becoming nearly impassable. This not only disrupts the daily lives of the people but also hampers the transportation of agricultural produce and other essential goods to and from the markets.

The delegation from Nerwa Sports Club, led by its president, Rajendra Singh, formally submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Renuka, Shri Naresh Kumar. They stressed that the promised blacktopping work has been delayed for an extended period, causing immense inconvenience. The club's appeal underscores a critical infrastructure gap affecting a remote part of the state.

Official Assurance and Pending Action

In response to the memorandum, the SDM assured the club members that their genuine concerns would be forwarded to the higher authorities for necessary action. The administration acknowledged the legitimacy of the demand, recognizing the road's importance for the socio-economic development of the region. However, the local community now awaits concrete steps and a clear timeline for the commencement of the metalling work.

The condition of this road is more than just an inconvenience; it is a barrier to progress. Students, farmers, and the sick face daily struggles due to the dilapidated state of the Kuthar-Auli road. Reliable road connectivity is a fundamental requirement for accessing education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, which are currently compromised.

The Wider Impact on Development

Beyond immediate travel woes, the poor road infrastructure stifles the potential for tourism and local commerce in the picturesque region. Improved connectivity could open doors for economic activities and better integration with the district's main hubs. The club's demand, therefore, resonates with the broader need for equitable development across all regions of Himachal Pradesh, ensuring that remote communities are not left behind.

The ball is now in the court of the state's Public Works Department and the district administration. The residents of Nerwa and adjoining villages hope that their plea, championed by the Nerwa Sports Club, will translate into swift administrative action, finally paving the way for a smooth and safe journey.
