Dense Fog Paralyzes Jind, Rohtak; Accidents Spike, Visibility Near Zero
Heavy Fog Disrupts Life in Haryana Districts, Accidents Reported

Thick, persistent fog descended upon several districts in Haryana on Thursday, severely disrupting daily life and creating hazardous conditions on the roads. The blanket of fog led to a major slowdown in vehicular movement and was responsible for multiple accidents across the region.

Visibility Drops to Zero, Traffic Grinds to a Halt

The fog was particularly dense during the early morning and evening hours, with visibility dropping to nearly zero in many areas. Drivers across Jind, Rohtak, and other affected districts faced immense difficulties, forced to navigate at a crawling pace. The situation was similarly severe in Kaithal district, where intensified fog and cold conditions over recent days have disrupted normal life and drastically reduced road visibility.

The early morning and nighttime hours proved to be the most challenging for commuters, combining piercing cold with dangerously poor sightlines. This hazardous mix significantly increased travel risks for everyone on the road.

Police Issue Urgent Safety Advisory

In response to the dangerous conditions, Kaithal Superintendent of Police Upasana Singh issued a crucial weather advisory for the public. The advisory urges all commuters to check the latest weather forecast before embarking on any journey to stay informed about potential foggy conditions.

The police recommendations for safe driving include:

  • Avoiding overspeeding and reckless overtaking.
  • Using low-beam headlights and fog lights in low-visibility scenarios.
  • Strictly refraining from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

SP Singh emphasized the need for extra caution, especially during the colder, foggier parts of the day, and stressed the importance of preventive safety measures. Officials also appealed to residents to take special care of children and the elderly, as the cold and fog can worsen health problems and increase their vulnerability.

A Silver Lining for Farmers Amidst the Chaos

While the fog caused widespread disruption, it brought unexpected benefits to the agricultural community. A local farmer from Rajthal village in Hisar district noted that the fog has been advantageous for wheat crops, which had previously suffered damage from excessive sunlight.

"The fog over the past two to three days has benefited the crop," the farmer stated, expressing hope that if the foggy conditions persist into January, it could lead to a good yield for the season. This perspective highlights the complex impact of weather phenomena, posing challenges for urban and transport sectors while offering relief in agricultural areas.
