The Gujarat government announced on Wednesday that special 'tourist police stations' will be established at Gir Somnath, Dwarka, and Dang to improve safety and convenience for tourists. Director General of Police K L N Rao chaired a meeting to finalize plans for operationalizing these stations at key tourist destinations.
Upgrading Existing Outposts
According to an official statement, existing police outposts at tourist sites will be upgraded to advanced tourist police stations. The meeting also discussed designing special uniforms for police personnel and a unique logo for vehicles to help tourists easily identify and seek assistance from the police.
Interactive Mobile Application
Superintendents of Police from all districts have been instructed to develop a central 'interactive tourist police application'. This app will provide tourists with all necessary information and security-related services on a single platform.
Other topics covered in the meeting included manpower deployment, procurement of new vehicles, and infrastructure development. The initiative aims to boost tourism by ensuring a safe and hassle-free experience for visitors to these popular destinations.
