State Minister Jitu Vaghani confirmed that the primary state-level celebration of the Millet Mahotsav will be held at the iconic Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad. More than 700 stalls will be established at various locations throughout Gujarat, designed to educate and engage the public about millet-based products.

An official government statement elaborated that these stalls will not only display information but also sell a variety of edible items crafted from millets, encouraging wider consumption and supporting local farmers and producers.

Government Discloses Rs 3.39 Crore Aid for Silicosis Patients

The Gujarat government has provided substantial financial assistance totaling Rs 3.39 crore to silicosis patients and their families over the last ten years. This revelation came via a statement from the Gujarat Rural Workers Welfare Board.

Details of the Silicosis Assistance Scheme

According to established state government schemes, the financial support is structured as follows:

  • A compensation of Rs 4 lakh is granted to the next of kin of individuals who succumb to silicosis.
  • Patients diagnosed with silicosis receive Rs 3 lakh in assistance.

The statement further emphasized that silicosis patients are entitled to free medical treatment at all government hospitals, ensuring access to necessary healthcare without financial burden.
